Wellington Camp 2014

We arrive. Brakes go on. Unload the vehicles! As we sat waiting for the train, one by one each group walked across the road to the train station. After a few minutes waiting the train slowly slopes into the train station. Everyone waited for about a second and then hopped aboard looking for a front seat. But no ... there was only backwards! Super freaky!

The train starts and a giant squeak happens. I fall off my seat as soon as it moves. I realise I need to hop back on.

As I hop back on my seat I see green and blue for miles. There were bushes around the corners. There was birdlife for half of the way.

We stopped in an instant at another stop to pick up some more passengers.  The train starts. I quickly grab a handle.

We are off again .. My heart was beating quickly because the train was going faster and faster. The train came to a stop in the city. Suddenly all of the school hops off.

This is my very first time going on a train and it is a great experience for me!

Steam Traction Engines visit Apiti

As the bus was rolling down the road we saw a steam tractor slowly going past.  When we arrived at school we heard that we were going to see the steam tractors.  I felt really excited because it was my first time to see a real steam tractor.

As we went across the road to the pub we saw the first steam tractor. It was jerking as it was still on. So we looked over to the hall and saw ' Dirty girl'. We slowly walked over to her.  It was really steamy. We were allowed to look at the fire that keeps the steam engine going. Then we went around the front.  He showed us the chamber that had all the smoke in it to help the steam tractor to move.  He taught us about steam tractors and how to make the steam  by using hot water.

I really enjoyed learning about the steam engines.  It was exciting.

Beep! Beep! Bang!
I spring out of my bed.
 I see the mountain going to pick Nikki up. The closer we got, it felt like it was only a metre away. When we were getting closer it looked like vanilla ice-cream with chocolate sprinkles. When we got to the top we got a good park in the top parking lot.
We raced to the lady. She told us where to go and we got our gear on. I didn't want to use sticks and my Mum tried to tell

Fare well to Beards

On friday we all had a fare well for the Beard's . Tom was a good leader and a good friend. I was sad because I've known Tom for quite a while and he never got to came t my house. So on Friday we had a shared lunch. After we had our lunch we had fun games. First of all it was touchrugby, dodgeball and four square. It was fun day.

Tyrannosaurus-rex

A long time ago a press was walking and he saw a tyrannosaurus-rex. He ran home and the tyrannosaurus-rex ran after him and he got home and then the tyrannosaurus-rex got attacked by people too. The tyrannosaurus-rex ran and he got away.

Colour matters! Imagine a world without colour. Everything would be black and white.Wouldn’t that be boring! Imagine if you looked out the window and all you saw was a grey sunrise. Instead of our beautiful sky, you saw white clouds against a grey sky.

wouldn't it make you feel sad and depressed.

Colours help us stay safe. Just think about how we use colour on our roads. Look at traffic lights. When they are red, we know we have to stop and wait for the green light to tell us to go. Without colour, you would not know to go or stop . Everyone would crash.

Imagine a fire. If there was no colour how would you know if there was smoke or even flames. Because smoke can be hot ... so you would be in danger and you wouldn’t even know it.

Picture this ... I look in the food bowl and everything looks the same colour! We need colour in food. Why? Because how could you cook if you don’t know what you are using ... like a apple and an orange! Or white rice or brown rice? Or chinese noodles and spaghetti?

Did you know that different coloured foods have different vitamins and minerals. These keep us healthy. So we need colour!

Plus colour helps us tell the difference between rotten and healthy food. I’d rather eat healthy colourful food! What about you?
